Hotel des Dromonts is situated less than 1km from the Station Piétone and is the best looking hotel in Avoriaz. Designed by architect Jacques Labro in the 1970's, Hotel des Dromonts is entirely clad with wood red cedar.
The hotel's modern but attractive exterior blends with the alpine landscape and evokes a pine cone silhouette whose patina changes colour according to the light. The hotel's attractive interior features lots of wood and open fires yet with a very contemporary decor. Bedrooms and suites are rather plain in comparison yet perfectly adequate.
The Hotel des Dromonts has preserved its charm intact over the years and has been patronized by Brigitte Bardot and Steven Spielberg. Owner Christophe Leroy has renovated the hotel to bring elegance and comfort and a new General Manager was appointed in 2009.
Hotel des Dromonts 41 rooms and suites are decorated in typically French style and include en suite bathroom with bathtub, central heating, hairdryer, minibar, satellite TV, sound proof windows, stereo system/CD player and telephone. Most rooms have a balcony and windows that open.
It's in the kitchen and La Table du Marché restaurant where Hotel des Dromont scores best. This is hardly surprising given that owner Christophe Leroy is among the greatest master chefs of French gastronomy. He opened his first restaurant La Table du Marché in 1992 in St. Tropez and acquired the famous Hotel des Dromonts in Avoriaz in 2000 which became the home for is second La Table du Marché restaurant followed by a third restaurant in Marrakech which opened in 2004.
Avoriaz is car free so your car will be parked up for the duration of your stay. Make the transfer from Geneva to Morzine which is about 50km and the choice is then a 45 minute drive uphill or take the Prodains Cable Car to the Avoriaz plateau. Once you arrive in Avoriaz, you can hire horse drawn sleighs or tracked vans to transport luggage the Hotels des Dromants.
