Choupana Hills Resort, a luxurious 5-star hotel, opened March 2002. The construction of this exceptional venture was started in September 2000.The French architect Michel de Camaret developed this project in 1998, conjointly with architect Miguel Mallaguerra who lives in Madeira, and architect-decorator Didier Lefort (who decorated the Datai hotel in Malaysia and the Meridien hotel in Bora Bora among others).
The main features of the buildings are wood and stone, comprised of 34 bungalow-style units, built on pillars. There are 60 double rooms and 4 suites, surrounded by sumptuous gardens and two larger buildings in which other amenities are situated. All rooms have verandas, unusually large areas and a view to Funchal and the Atlantic Ocean. Both double rooms and suites have separate WC and bathrooms, refrigerator mini-bar, personal safe, television and radio. The suites will also be equipped with an outside Jacuzzi and access to the Internet.
The indoor leisure areas, reception, library, seminar room with a capacity of approximately 40 people, and the spa, are found in one of the main buildings. The bar, restaurant and kitchen are situated in another separate building. There are two heated swimming pools, one outdoor lagoon swimming pool, and another indoors in the spa area.
Choupana Hills Health and Beauty Spa is a serene area equipped with the most demanding lovers and seekers of leisure and wellness in mind, offering innovative methods of relaxation, massage and treatments. Rasul (exfoliation) aromatherapy, hydro massage, relaxing/revitalising baths, a genuine Turkish bath and a sauna will be available here. You will be able to have a nutritious light meal or tempting diet snacks without having to worry about calories!
