Il Pellicano - Tuscany

The hotel Il Pellicano is situated almost directly above the sea, on Italy's Argentario peninsula, overlooking the crystal clear waters which lap this dramatically beautiful part of the Tuscan coast. The building, the labor of love of British aviator Michael Graham and his partner Patsy Daszel, member of the American jet set, dates back to 1965. The couple, after having met at Pelican Point in California, decided to find a similarly secluded location in Europe, where to create an exclusive retreat in which to offer hospitality to a selected group of friends. It was Prince Tinti Borghese who introduced them to this stunning stretch of cliffs overlooking the Tyrrhenian sea.

Il Pellicano is more a cluster of villas than a traditional hotel, with six cottages and a larger central body in which the reception, bar, Il Pellicano restaurant, Il Puttino Baccante wine cellar, conference room, and the brand new "Pelliclub" health and beauty with state-of-the-art Technogym equipment, a Roman style steam bath "Calidarium", and four body and facial treatment rooms, hairdressing service and boutique, are located.

The hotel has beautifully furnished rooms and suites equipped with every modern comfort and offering splendid views out over the sea and the hotel's luxuriant gardens dotted with century old olive and cypress trees. Outside, the bar and Restaurant "all'aperto" look out over the heated salt water swimming pool and the sea whilst a lift leads directly to the hotel's tiny rocky beach.
